JotVox vs Transcript365

Two link-paste transcript tools with very similar output and very different platform lists.

Try JotVox free →

Transcript365 is a close cousin of JotVox. You paste a video URL, it generates a transcript, and you export TXT, SRT or WebVTT. Its site states 96%+ accuracy under suitable audio conditions, 100+ languages, and processing in seconds for short clips. There is a Chrome and Edge extension, and pricing runs on credits with no subscription lock-in.

The clearest difference is scope. Transcript365 lists six supported platforms: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, Facebook and RedNote (Xiaohongshu). JotVox lists 19+, adding Reddit, LinkedIn, Twitch, Dailymotion, SoundCloud, Apple Podcasts, Odysee, Vidyard, Niconico, Bilibili, Weibo and Tencent Video.

Both are honest about what they are: a fast path from a public video link to text.

Platform coverage is the main split

If your work is short-form social video, Transcript365 covers the big five plus RedNote, and that may be everything you need. It even runs TikTok transcriptions free for logged-in accounts.

If your sources include podcasts, livestreams or Chinese long-form video, the list runs out. JotVox adds Apple Podcasts, SoundCloud, Twitch, Bilibili, Weibo and Tencent Video.

Captions first, or transcribe everything

JotVox checks for an existing caption track before spending anything. If captions exist, you get them free with no account. Only when there are none does AI transcription run and use a credit.

Transcript365 describes itself as an AI transcription tool for video links, with a preview and credits for processing. Both approaches work. The free-captions path just tends to cost less on captioned video.

When Transcript365 is the better choice

Choose it if you live inside TikTok and Instagram and want a browser extension. Starting a transcription from the page you are already on, without copying a URL into another tab, is a smoother loop than anything JotVox offers.

It is also worth a look if you want no subscription option at all. Transcript365 is explicit about credits with no lock-in, and its free TikTok transcriptions for signed-in users are a genuinely generous allowance for short-form work.

Frequently asked questions

Is JotVox a drop-in replacement for Transcript365?

For the six platforms Transcript365 covers, largely yes: same link-paste flow, same TXT, SRT and VTT exports, plus MP3. The gaps run the other way. JotVox has no browser extension, so if you rely on transcribing from inside TikTok or Instagram pages, that habit does not carry over.

Which tool covers more platforms?

JotVox, by a wide margin. Transcript365 lists six platforms: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, Facebook and RedNote. JotVox lists 19 or more, adding Reddit, LinkedIn, Twitch, Dailymotion, SoundCloud, Apple Podcasts, Odysee, Vidyard, Niconico, Bilibili, Weibo and Tencent Video. Check the current platform list before switching.

Can I get an MP3 as well as the text?

With JotVox, yes. Alongside TXT, SRT and VTT, JotVox exports the audio as MP3, which is useful if you want the recording itself for a podcast clip or an archive. Transcript365 lists TXT, SRT and WebVTT as its output formats, without an audio export.

How do the accuracy claims compare?

JotVox states 98%+ on AI transcription across 99 languages. Transcript365 states 96%+ under suitable audio conditions across 100+ languages. Both figures are vendor claims measured on clear audio, and real results depend on accents, background noise and audio quality more than on the headline number.

The short version

Pick Transcript365 if short-form social video is your world and you want a browser extension plus straightforward credits with no subscription.

Pick JotVox if your sources go beyond those six platforms, especially into podcasts, livestreams and Chinese video, or if you want MP3 exports.
